How do I know what length I need to ask for when ordering custom lengths?
The length you need will be based on your target area and what
kind of research you are doing. To determine exact lengths, you must refer to a Rat Brain
Atlas, Mouse Brain Atlas, etc.

Do you still carry cranioplastic cement?
No, we do not. We now carry a non-hazardous adhesive called
Cerebond
that is used in the same way as dental cement.
When working with mice or smaller animals, you can use our
Cyanoacrylate Gel
as an alternative to Cerebond and screws.
Do you carry smaller screws than the 0-80 size?
Yes, we now have 00-96 size screws for use with smaller animals, such as mice.
When ordering custom mounting holders, how do I know what size I need?
The size is determined by the shaft diameter of the current arm on your stereotaxic.

Cannulas
Is the threaded plastic pedestal supposed to screw into the animal?
No, the base of the plastic pedestal is supposed to sit flush on the skull.
Why do special cut length cannulas take longer?
Since we don't know what lengths each researcher needs, we couldn't possibly stock
all lengths that you may need. We are a manufacturer and not a distributor so we make
these parts especially to fit your custom needs.
Are your cannulas autoclavable?
Most of them are with the exception of our non-metallic cannulas, our osmotic pump/guide
cannula combinations and our 21Y.
Electrodes
How many channels do you have?
We currently have several different options to meet each researcher's specific needs.
We have two channel electrodes, three channel electrodes and our 6 channel pedestal
system. These can be used separately or in conjunction with each other.
Here are steps for using a 6 channel system:
1. Drill holes in skull at the locations the electrodes are to be implanted.
2. By each electrode hole, drill a hole for a mounting screw.
3. Screw in screws; implant electrodes. Put dental cement around screws and electrodes.
4. Choose a central location for the Electrode Pedestal; bend socket end of electrodes toward this
central location.
5. Insert MH-363 Electrode Holder into end of Electrode Pedestal with the smaller holes.
6. Place electrode sockets into bottom of Electrode Pedestal, plugging into the pins of the MH-363. Push
Electrode Pedestal into the dental cement.
Be sure the cement does not go more than halfway
up the Electrode Pedestal so that there is room for the 363DC Dust Cap to screw onto the pedestal.
7. Once dental cement has hardened, remove the MH-363.
8. Screw on the 363DC Dust Cap onto the Electrode Pedestal until you are ready to stimulate or record.
9. When ready to test, remove the Dust Cap, insert the 363 plug of your cable into the Electrode Pedestal,
and screw the captive collar of plug to the pedestal to secure the cable to the pedestal.
What materials are your electrodes made from?
We offer stainless steel and platinum electrodes.
Commutators
What is the difference in Single Brush and the standard commutator?
Our standard commutators have double brushes to assure unbroken continuity but our
single brush commutators can be ordered to reduce torque when working with smaller
animals such as mice.
Do you make different channel combinations on your commutators other than the ones you offer now?
We can customize most of our commutators to fit your needs. We have made several commutators with customer supplied parts also.

What is your return policy?
- Custom made/custom cut items are non-returnable.
- For all other items, claims must be made within 10 days of delivery and no merchandise will be accepted for return without
authorization. You can obtain an authorization number by calling (540) 772 -7960 ext. 113 or ext. 146.
- There is a 15% restocking charge on all returned merchandise.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes, we do accept MasterCard and Visa, but we do not accept American Express or
Discover.

Yes, our minimum order amount is $35.00

Yes, we do have distributors for our international customers. The areas that

What products are autoclavable?
Most of our products are autoclavable at 270-300 degrees F. The only ones that are not
are our Connector Assemblies, Cable, Polyethylene tubing, and vinyl tubing.
Note:On any item that has OPG as part of the part number, do not use acetone.
