Junction pods and buttons allow for a cord to split out to multiple wires or convert from one wire style to another in an overmolded configuration. An example of a bifurcation Plastics One has built for years for the hearing aid industry is the Y cord, a single body wire provides signal to two ears. With the variety in size and design that is available, the cord junctions can also be used to encapsulate electronic components such as printed circuit boards, resistors or capacitors that won’t fit in the plug bodies.
Certain pods were built as cases for ease of field installation by the end user or for sonic welding to gain more permanent, tamper resistant applications. For those we also recommend molded Anchor Bend Reliefs to protect the wire exits.
Buttons provide the coverage for non-electrical breakout points- ripstops for parallel wires or breakout points for outer jackets and underlying leads.
