Also known as Electrical Swivels or Slip Rings, our commutators are available with 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 and 18 channels. All commutators have an opening through the center to allow tubing from a fluid swivel to pass through. They are designed to be low current and low voltage devices. These have been tested to levels of 100V and .08 Amps.
All single plug commutators are supplied with a live plug (red) and a dummy plug (white) for even rotation of the rotor. Our commutators are low noise and environmentally safe. They can usually be repaired for a reasonable charge. The mechanism for conducting electrical current/signals consists of brushes and rings. All commutators have double brushes to assure unbroken continuity, unless a single brush is requested to reduce torque for use with mice.
Note: If a single brush version is needed for use with mice, add "SB" to the part number. The rings are manufactured with a non-noble substrate, nickel-plated per QQ-N-290, and gold plated per MIL-G-45204 to mate with the brushes.
